Kav is an Aramaic word originally used in Kabblalistic terms to mean a line, ray or thread. It refers to the ray of light that descended at the very beginning of creation into the vacated space that would be the place of the world, the chalal panui. The vessels of creation had shattered because of the intensity of this overwhelming light that had an uncontainable good. The Kav – a shaft of light - in its limitation is a way for light to be present in this world in a sustained, stable way. 

 

Limited light can be used and worked with. The artistic process often begins with an intense inspiration and vision that can be a struggle to fully realize. Disciplined effort, self management, and relational health are needed to sustain a creative lifestyle and bring projects to fruition. Beyond the challenge of the process of art, on a practical level the artistic community hasn't gotten the support it needs and many artists leave the industry or spend years struggling with dire financial and serious mental health issues.
