Sustainable Independence

Kav endeavors to help artists achieve sustainable independence. Compromises to independence are limiting and interfere with the development of the mature artistic identity. We work with artists to build sustainable careers where possible by helping solve problems related to their mental, relational and financial functioning which impede artistic work.

Courage

Kav seeks to cultivate courage sourced in personal and artistic integrity. The non-linear path of art mandates non-box thinking and willingness to take risks. We understand this quality does not always coincide with artistic talent and life circumstances can mitigate the ability to act with courage.

Faith

Kav operates with the implicit sense that life can be rewarding. Dreams can find realization. Creative fulfillment and the fullest expression of one's art and life is possible and probable.

Hakaras HaTov (Recognizing the Good) -

Kav believes that mental, emotional health and strong relationships require recognition of goodness and positivity, despite the presence of negativity and hardships. A mindset of abundance and possibility can help with movement away from a scarcity mentality – it can lead to better art, music and more collaborations. Gratitude is an essential tool for successfully navigating an imperfect industry. Recognizing the good will make the industry as a whole healthier and more stable.

Tzedek Tzedek Tirdof & Tikkun (Pursuit of Justice & Repair)

Tikkun, the essential value that is embodied in all Jewish communities, accepts the world's need for ongoing effort toward repair. Kav recognizes that music and creative industries are rife with avenues for exploitation often leaving artists underpaid for their contributions and negatively impacting their mental health. Our legal and business counsel helps artists protect artistic efforts and enter into agreements that truly further their goals.

Inclusivity / Fully Expressed Individuality

We feel art is inherently about giving voice to the full range of human experience. Experience that cuts across class, race and political lines is essential to approach a degree of universal resonance. The greatest art is sourced in a broad ethic of cultural exchange and an orientation of openness to a range of influences. Kav seeks to support the uniqueness of our client’s respective backgrounds and historical contexts to aid the full development and expression of their artistic voice.

Kehilla (Community)

Kav works from an understanding that a strong community requires the strength and health of its individual members. Healthy artists and their contributions are necessary for a stable arts and music community. Every instance of psychological and spiritual health emanates outwards and changes the industry for the better. Kav also encourages and facilitates the sharing of skills and knowledge.
